There are currently over 30,000 species of Orchids, and over 100,000 hybrid Orchids. There are Orchids that come in white, yellow, green, purple, pink, spotted, striped, blue, red, and orange. There is no black Orchid.
Orchids grow naturally in all countries. Some Orchids grow in trees on branches, while other Orchids grow in other types of environments. A well grown Orchid will mature over time and get more and more beautiful as well as floriferous.
One terrific way to get started with Orchids can be to use a greenhouse. A greenhouse can let you control light, humidity, temperature, and air movement. Here is our greenhouse page.
There are many popular kinds of Orchid favorites to start with. The most popular Orchids with long lasting flowers are Phalaenopsis Orchids, Dendrobium Orchids, and Paphiopedilum Orchids.

 Most Popular Orchids
The most popular Orchids are Dendrobium Orchids and Phalaenopsis Orchids. Dendrobiums enjoy living in a location with bright light while Phalaenopsis Orchids prefer low light. Both of these kinds of Orchids are the easiest to grow.
Orchids To Grow
Orchids that like bright light: Cattleya, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Epidendrum, Oncidium, Vanda.
Orchids that like medium light: Miltonia, Zygopetalum.
Orchids that prefer low light / shade: Masdevallia, Miniatures, Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis.
Orchid Care
Orchids can be easy to grow if correct conditions are kept. There are many terrific Orchid
books that can be purchased. Orchids can be difficult to care for if the right kind of Orchid is not selected for the environment. There are Orchids that like bright light, medium light, and shade. Some Orchids like to dry out in between waterings while others prefer to stay moist between waterings. Most Orchids like 60-80% humidity. This can be attained with a humidity tray. Fertilizers that are used for Orchids are specially designed. Pots for Orchids can be ceramic or plastic. Potting Mixes are usually bark while there are some other materials used at times. Orchid Supplies include items from clippers to watering cans, and more. Greenhouses are not necessary for Orchid care but can be used indoors our outdoors.
